Jay Cole on Meditation

One key aspect of daily Meditation, for me, has been that by recognizing and acknowledging each thought that floats by as a foreign object not my own, not created by me, that I am not attached to them and so I do not have to act upon them, get upset or disturbed by them. Sure, you say, that sounds easy when it's just you sitting there in the quiet room, but what about when you have to go back into the world with all the convoluted thought-based actions of others? By implementing a daily meditation practice/routine, one can reblaze the neural pathways that our brains so easily get into, and create a road towards peace and understanding so that in...

The Ego Trap

I had been looking through these eyes of mine at the room and space around me, specifically a kitchen table at a planted pot of red mums that were a housewarming gift for my mothers’ new country house, and I cannot shake this feeling that I am only peering through these eyes and that I am not this human thing. The Feather Illusion

Meditation and Yoga can put you into that 'flow' state. It's a beautiful place, some even say it's a communion with God. That's quite a trip, man! Meditation and Yoga, among other things, are the methods to get there, to break free from the illusion of reality. The next trip is that these methods are also an illusion, you don't need them to get you there! It's like the story of Dumbo the elephant, he thought he needed the magic feather to fly, but it was not the feather, it was something inside of himself all along, he always had the power to fly! The feather was the illusion, not the method!
